Network Engineer is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting, developing and designing communication networks within an organization or between organizations.

Network Engineer goal is to ensure the integrity of high availability network infrastructure to provide maximum performance for their users. Users may be staff, clients, customers and suppliers.

Network Engineer detect, prevent and resolve security threats to computer networks. They also play an important role in maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of a company's data and information systems.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Establish the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation, defining, documenting and enforcing system standards.
  • Design and implementation of new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment.
  • Maximizing network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimization.
  • Undertaking data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments, using information from multiple sources.
  • Securing network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access.
  • Support and administration of firewall environments in line with IT security policy.
  • Reporting network operational status by gathering and prioritizing information and managing projects.
  • Upgrading data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases.
  • Configuration of routing and switching equipment.
  • Configuration of hosted IP voice services & firewalls.
  • Remote support of on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation.
  • Develop plans to safeguard computer files against unauthorized modification, destruction or disclosure.
  • Choose, implement, monitor and upgrade computer anti-virus and malware protection systems.
  • Encrypt data transmissions and erect firewalls to conceal confidential information during transmit.
  • Implement password authentication to keep unauthorized users from accessing sensitive data files.
  • Modify security files to incorporate new software, correct errors, and change user access status.
  • Perform risk assessments and tests on running data processing activities and security measures.
  • Keep accurate and current backup files of all important data on the shared corporate network.
  • Gather evidence for prosecuting cyber-crimes.
  • Resolve issues with applications, systems or networks by designing and implementing solutions.
  • Install, monitor, test and support an organization's networks, including its local and wide area networks and Internet systems.
  • Good understanding of TCP/IP, OSPF, ISIS, BGP, MPLS L2/L3VPNs
  • Experience with the following equipment/platforms: Cisco ASR/GDR/ISR routers (voice/data), Cisco Nexus/Catalyst switches (L2/L3), Cisco Unified Border Element, Citrix/Big IP load balancers, CSU/DSU, Sniffer, packet shapers, VPN, firewalls, IPS, WLAN controllers, WiSpy Channelizer, Airmagnet, Ekahau

  • Experience with the following WAN services: MPLS, ATM, Frame Relay, SIP, ISDN, T1 / DS1 / T3 / DS3 / E1 / E3, VPN, MOE, GeoMax, EPL
  • Experience with the following LAN services: Switched Ethernet, FDDI, VLANs, WLANs, Bridging, VTP, 802.1q, 802.1x, VPC, Portchannel, Etherchannel
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems
  • Good Expertise of using & configuring Linux Servers.
  • Capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centers.
  • Good knowledge of 2G, 3G, 4G, 4G LTE, Volte, and 5G networks.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Working knowledge of TDM/VOIP systems and their management
  • Experience with VoIP installation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of call center system management
  • Experience with current Cisco hardware
  • Experience with a variety of video and voice codecs (e.g. G.711, G.729).
  • Voicemail/Unified Messaging Management
  • Experience with configuration and management of Voicemail systems
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with managing and creating various types of voice mail routing and configurations of voice mail systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and configure routers, switches and firewalls and experience with troubleshooting tools like network analyzers and sniffers.
  • Experience managing, troubleshooting and creating VLANs, ACLs, and QoS settings in a LAN/WAN environment.

Education & Experience Requirement

  • Bachelor’s/ Master’s/Ph.D degree in IT or relevant field with at least 10+ years of technology experience is required.
